The highest-leverage move is to diversify your identity. Instead of chasing "VP of Engineering," become: • A Senior Engineer by day. • An angel investor in your niche. • A part-time advisor to a startup. • A writer/educator in your domain. This multiplies your optionality without sacrificing your core lifestyle. But there's a deeper layer here: the guilt is about falling for a script you didn't write. Society sells a linear "upward" path, but real fulfilment is a multi-dimensional optimization problem. If you're happy, productive, and present, you've already won a rare lottery.
