Revolutionaries used them to quickly schedule meetings and determine assembly points, allowing localized conflicts to rapidly replicate nationwide and spread throughout the Middle East.
In this instance, Iran immediately (DAY 0) shut down the internet, cutting off communication between different protest groups. However, the internal network remains operational: banking, ride-hailing, and government apps—products related to basic necessities—remain usable.
