Bill Morgan, a pro-XRP Australian lawyer, stated that the lawsuit between Ripple and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is unlikely to be reopened, despite calls from some Democratic lawmakers, UToday reports. He explained that the legal principle of res judicata prevents the same parties from relitigating a case that has already received a final judgment. Morgan noted that while some Democratic members of the U.S. House of Representatives have criticized the SEC for dropping cases against 12 crypto firms, including Ripple, Kraken, Binance, and Coinbase—allegedly in exchange for large political donations—it is impossible to restart a closed case. The legal dispute, he added, concluded last year with a victory for Ripple.
