The single most valuable exercise was creating things that tied together multiple APIs (ex. FRED, SEC EDGAR, DefiLlama, and Anthropic). As fun as this is, I'm wary of falling prey to "shiny object syndrome" and trying 100 different things, none of which go anywhere. To compound with my content and work, I've started to zero in on "content engineering", in which I create fully automated, AI-generated content that makes useful information available.
