ENS Labs halts L2 Namechain development, to deploy on Ethereum mainnet

ENS Labs, the service provider for Ethereum Name Service (ENS), has decided to halt the development of its proprietary Layer 2 Namechain and will deploy the upcoming ENSv2 update exclusively on the Ethereum mainnet (L1), The Block reported. The project was originally part of the ENSv2 update. "Ethereum's base layer is scaling faster than anticipated, reducing the need to operate a separate L2," ENS Labs explained. The decision follows recent comments from Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin, who walked back his "rollup-centric roadmap" and highlighted the decentralization limitations of L2 solutions.
