In 2022 I talked about the idea of selling APIs pay-per-call on ethereum, but I didn't foresee that (i) building these kinds of payments directly into http (as x402) was an option, thus dramatically reducing global friction and turbocharging adoption. (ii) ChatGPT et al would rapidly evolve into sci-fi-grade agents, needing the fantastic dynamic web of api calls we used to only imagine. Coinbase and the Base deserve so much credit for sprinting the world into the future. In a couple years, agents without crypto wallets will effectively be crippled, unable to do the standard breadth and depth of agent work. This will legitimize and grow crypto and Ethereum like never before. At long last, there will be a use case (really a class of use cases) that's (i) indisputably impactful, (ii) indisputably global scale and world-transforming, (iii) indisputably doesn't work at all without crypto. Pray for the bears, they're going to need it. x.com/ryanberckmans/status/155...…

I should be able to invoke ChatGPT via API by paying 0.002 USDC to an onchain storefront, with no API key or login, only a permissionless payment.
Building the "web3 permissionless storefront add-on for SaaS" is an amazing startup opportunity. If you start it, I'd love to advise
