This is a key point: the idea that imprisoning criminals won’t reduce crime tacitly assumes that there’s some kind of crime quota, and other people will start assaulting strangers if we lock up the people currently doing it.

It’s boneheaded to think that we’ve done that. America has both a higher number of criminals and a better functioning law enforcement system that results in us having more prisoners you idiot. For example if Jamaica or Haiti or Liberia had better law enforcement, their prison x.com/chicagosmayor/…
