Jews *are* wealthy. When you dismiss this as a “tired trope” you only fuel antisemitism, since you cede acknowledgement of this fact to Fuentes et al. Jews are wealthy. This is just true. There is no reason you can’t still make whatever arguments you want to make: we should or shouldn’t tax the wealthy, we shouldn’t hate Jews, etc. But when you peg your whole position to a demand that people deny reality (“don’t say Jews are wealthy”) you create a market niche for people who will acknowledge this fact with no subtlety or tact and for malicious reasons. Please: stop failing the finger trap. A little acknowledging of reality now will result in much less pain later. You cannot sustainably bludgeon people into total submission, and the truth isn’t even so terrible. Just relax.
