According to ChainCatcher, citing The Times of Israel, a Tel Aviv court revealed on Thursday that an Israeli Air Force reservist is suspected of using classified information to trade on Polymarket for profit related to last year's war between Israel and Iran.
The defendant, a former Air Force major, was charged last month with serious security offenses, bribery, and obstruction of justice along with his accomplices. They are suspected of trading over the timing of Israel's first airstrike in its 12-day war, scheduled for June 2025. Authorities have not yet disclosed the suspects' identities or the details of the transactions. The case was initially protected by a court injunction, which was partially lifted Thursday night after applications from several Hebrew-language media outlets, allowing for the release of case details, but the defendants' names have not yet been published.
The two men received a total of $162,663 after their prediction was successful last June, and they agreed to split the money equally. Last month, prosecutors filed charges against the two men in Tel Aviv District Court and sought to detain them until the legal proceedings concluded.
