🇻🇳 Crypto assets must be available to use the Vietnamese exchange #5PC Many people haven't noticed that Clause 1, Article 7 of Resolution 05 stipulates: Domestic investors currently hold crypto assets, while foreign investors are permitted to open accounts at crypto asset service providers licensed by the Ministry of Finance to deposit, buy, and sell crypto assets in Vietnam. Recently, Mr. To Tran Hoa, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Cryptocurrency Trading Market Management Board, also confirmed this: "Cryptocurrencies are a new market with inherent risks, so regulatory authorities are approaching it cautiously and gradually. In the initial phase, only domestic investors holding crypto assets and foreign investors will be allowed to trade on Vietnamese exchanges." 🫡So what about newcomers who don't already own cryptocurrency assets on international exchanges or hold anything in their wallets? In terms of wording, Resolution 05 doesn't mention them but also doesn't prohibit them. It's likely that this group will be addressed in subsequent documents, once the first trading platform is licensed. During that time, Mr. Hoa stated that the main focus would be on knowledge dissemination programs for investors, in coordination with the State Securities Commission, the Ministry of Public Security, the State Bank of Vietnam, and the VBA. Referring to countries in the region that have gone before, most do not prevent new members from joining, but some places have implemented control measures: 🇸🇬 Singapore: Investor classification. Retail investors must pass a knowledge test before trading. Institutional and professional investors are exempt. 🇹🇭 Thailand: Similar to Singapore, but stricter in the ICO sector.
