Odaily Odaily reports that payment giant American Express has announced an accelerated push into the AI payments field and launched a developer toolkit for "Agentic Commerce." The toolkit promises to protect against erroneous transactions generated by registered AI agents. It aims to support AI agents in completing payments and other economic activities on behalf of users, while reducing fraud and dispute risks through mechanisms such as granting payment credentials only to verified agents and verifying cardholder identity.
Furthermore, American Express stated that it has a mature mechanism for handling transaction disputes, which can provide protection against AI agent misoperations, thereby enhancing user trust and driving transaction volume growth. It has also developed "multiple plans" for stablecoins, reportedly exploring stablecoin settlement scenarios rather than payments, but specific details were not disclosed. (Fortune)
