X's Head of Product, Nikita Bier, suggested that the platform might launch a crypto-focused product, Chia that "crypto has had a tough year" and X should "launch something to address this."
Although there has been no official announcement, Bier's post quickly received many responses from prominent members of the community, with many specific integration ideas. Fred Krueger responded to Bier's post, calling for X direct support for Bitcoin (BTC) .
Another user suggested that paying content creators with the USDC stablecoin would improve the experience for both content creators and the platform.
These responses indicate that the crypto-savvy user community on X is increasingly interested in deeper integration of features related to digital assets.
Smart Cashtag and transaction infrastructure
X has begun taking practical steps to develop crypto-related features. On February 14, 2024, Bier announced the Smart Cashtag tool . This tool allows users to trade stocks and cryptocurrencies directly on the X timeline, based on the cashtag system already in use on the platform.
Previously, rumors surfaced about the possibility of integrating crypto-related features into the X Money service; however, the platform Unconfirmed these plans.
Additionally, in March 2024, X appointed Benji Taylor as Head of Product Design . Prior to joining X, Taylor held the position of Product Director at AAVE Labs and was the lead designer for Coinbase's Base network.
Taylor's extensive experience with blockchain has led many to believe that X is planning to integrate crypto-related products more deeply into its platform.
Whether Bier's post was a genuine hint about a new product or simply an interaction with the community, the launch of Smart Cashtag, the hiring of Taylor, and the development of X Money demonstrate that X's crypto ambitions are progressing in various directions.
