According to Foresight News , citing CoinDesk, Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko stated at Consensus Miami 2026 that the major upgrade to the Solana network, "Alpenglow," is expected to launch this year, possibly as early as the next quarter.
Yakovenko stated, "The Alpenglow upgrade aims to bring transaction confirmation speeds close to the physical limit of 'light speed,' improving network speed, reliability, and transaction determinism. It represents a shift from the early innovations of Solana to a more mature stage focused on performance guarantees and reliability, which is crucial for time-sensitive applications such as financial applications."
