Earlier this year, Base announced the launch of Testnet , an Ethereum Layer 2 (L2) network built on the OP Stack , offering developers a secure and low-cost way to build decentralized on-chain application. Incubated by Coinbase, Base's mission is to increase economic freedom and opportunity around the world. Base has been building Mainnet Genesis, the first step in delivering a decentralized platform that scales Ethereum with fast, low-cost, and secure transactions. When Base was preparing to upgrade from the test network to the Mainnet, Base published a roadmap to let the community know the status of progress.
Base builder
Since the launch of the testnet, it has received a wide response from the developer community and projects deployed on the testnet. These use cases include: games, NFT, infrastructure, developer tools, wallets, security, DeFi, oracles, analysis tools, Bridges, payments, DAOs, social, etc. Its representative projects include:
- Blackbird is a Web3 platform specially built for the tourism and hotel catering industry, dedicated to establishing a direct connection between restaurants and guests through loyalty and membership services. The platform unlocks rewards for repeat customers at participating restaurants. Blackbird, which launched in beta earlier this year, includes a rewards program for Williamsburg restaurant GERTIE and the Upside Pizza Club program, which gives members access to a slice of pizza every day for a year, in addition to access to private concerts and activities.
- Parallel is an NFT-based trading card game designed to allow users to actually own cards and other in-game items while fighting enemies in a sci-fi world. Parallel brings its ecology into the Base Mainnet, enabling users to collect and participate in games at a lower cost.
- Thirdweb aims to make it easy for developers to deploy on the blockchain through its development kit. The ease and speed of deployment is a testament to the project's own launch of games. The team launched Web3 Warriors , the first game built on Base, in three weeks.
- OAK is the community currency of Auckland. Residents can use OAK-branded Stablecoin in local stores. This community currency can not only maintain value circulation in the local area, save merchants from high transaction costs, but also promote the development of local businesses.
Base Mainnet genesis standard
Building a blockchain is complex engineering, and Base's approach to launching the Mainnet draws inspiration from other Mainnet launches of similar complexity. The most important priority for Base is to ensure the security of the network, followed by smooth and efficient communication so that developers can prepare, and the third is the timely deployment of the Mainnet.

- Successful Hard fork of Regolith in testnet (Completed)
- Successful infrastructure review with OP Labs team (completed)
- Optimism MainnetBedrock Successfully Upgraded
- Successful completion of internal and external audits with no critical issues
- Prove the stability of the testnet
Genesis window
After the genesis block of the Mainnet is generated, Base will open the Genesis Window - a dedicated, coordinated window for developers to deploy dapps on the Base main network. During the open window, Base will focus on developers and provide support to ensure their success.
Base's goals during the window are to ensure that developers can:
- Deploy with confidence: During the genesis window, developers will be able to start deploying their dapps to Base safely, easily, and reliably.
- Get fast technical support: The Base core team will provide technical support for any Dapp deployed during this window via the Discord channel.
- Gain recognition as a genesis builder: Base will support and endorse early Dapp deployed on the Base mainnet.
