One such influential figure is Roger Ver, famously known as Bitcoin Jesus.
Ver was initially a Bitcoin advocate. However, he transitioned to Bitcoin Cash [BCH]. While BCH has maintained a rather low profile amidst the advent of newer crypto assets, Ver was seen exhibiting support towards several other networks. During his latest appearance on the Show Me The Crypto podcast, Bitcoin Jesus was seen lauding Ethereum [ETH].
During the podcast, Ver highlighted the Ethereum network as the focal point for significant activities within the cryptocurrency space. Despite the scaling challenges faced by Ethereum and the emergence of alternative layer-one blockchains, Ver emphasized that Ethereum remains at the forefront. He further recognized the presence of “clones” inspired by Ethereum’s success. However, he expressed the view that Ethereum continues to be the primary hub for innovation and development in the crypto industry. He added,
“Even though Ethereum doesn’t have the biggest market cap compared to Bitcoin, I think Ethereum is the front-runner in terms of driving worldwide adoption.”
Backlash incoming?
Contrary to the prevailing rivalry among various networks in the crypto ecosystem, Ver’s recent comments challenge that notion. It is worth noting that this is not the first instance where Bitcoin Jesus has shown admiration for a different network. In the past, he expressed support for Virgil Griffith, a member of the Ethereum research team, who faced legal issues after his visit to North Korea resulted in his arrest.

During an interview with Bloomberg, Ver made a notable statement asserting that Dogecoin was better than Bitcoin. He said,
“Dogecoin is significantly better. It’s cheaper and more reliable.”
Ver has been embracing several other networks over the years. Therefore, Ver’s latest statement about Ethereum isn’t surprising. Nevertheless, he might still be prone to backlash. Further speaking about the “civil war” between Bitcoin devs and Ethereum Co-Founder Vitalik Buterin, he said,
“All of that [smart contracts] would have been built on top of Bitcoin if not for the scaling civil war that happened. These Bitcoin core developers hate Vitalik, and they basically drove him from the project to go and create Ethereum, and more power to him for that.”

Despite the emergence of Bitcoin Ordinals and BRC-20 tokens, Ver’s perspective indicated that Ethereum maintains its superiority in terms of adoption and network activity.
