Friends, have you ever played Tamagotchi? If this name is not familiar, what about pet eggs and Tamagotchis? Do you remember that little pet that "died" due to neglect? They were all the rage for a while, only to fade away due to iterations of smartphones. Now, Fren Pet has brought them to Web3. Will you pay for the "sentimental chicken" on the chain?
As mentioned before, Fren Pet is a digital pet web game built on the Base chain. The developers also promise that as long as players are active, they will develop a new feature every week.
Fren Pet appeared on August 31, but it did not gain much popularity in the following two months. People just regarded it as another imitation disk with a UX similar to Frentech. Until November 18, Coinbase Wallet separately posted information about this game, focusing everyone's attention on it.

Like the Base games that everyone knows in the past, the way to download Fren Pet is to "add it to the home screen" (a similar mode to FriendTech, without downloading the app), and you need an invitation code and some ETH to start the game.
Currently, it costs 100 FP to cast a pet, but as long as someone else casts a pet, the system will refund the 100 FP.
In the game, you need to take care of your pet to prevent it from dying. Feeding food or cleaning will prolong the pet's death time. On your pet page you will see different food/cleaning options and you need to pay $FP tokens to use them.
At the top of the pet page is your pet's "TOD" (time of death) timer. Once your pet dies, your NFT will be burned and all your points will return to zero.
There is also a shop option in the game, where you can purchase trinkets to dress up your pet, as well as in-game items such as a shield to protect you from "Bonk" (described below) or when your pet runs out of TOD and dies. Insurance that automatically resurrects your pet.

All items trade at $FP according to the linear bonding curve.
Points represent the level of your pet. When you feed your pet or bathe it, you will gain points. For example, feeding tea can obtain 1 point and increase the death time by 3 days, but it requires 1 FP. The higher the points, the more ETH rewards you will receive, and the higher your ranking in the leaderboard will be.

You can also choose to convert all your points into ETH at once, which will also cause your pet level to return to zero.
In addition to the classic pet care, the game also has two built-in game modes to get points: 1) Rotary and dice; 2) Bonk.
The wheel is a free way to get points. It can be turned once every 24 hours. Through the wheel, players can get points, or Noting! Dice has a certain threshold. Participants need to pay 100 FP to participate in the game. There are 6 players in each game, and 100 FP will be burned, and the remaining 500 FP will be awarded to the winner.

Bonk is a PvP method in the game, which is simply a pet battle. Every 15 minutes, you can attack a pet that is higher than your level and has not been Bonk within 1 hour. You have a 40% chance of winning in this game, while a higher level opponent has a 60% chance of winning. The winner will receive 0.5% of the loser's score.
Points earning strategy
The above is the way to obtain points in the game, which leads to two points strategies: low-cost players and gold-paying players .
Low cost/zero players
1. After Mint pet, the 100FP you spent (high probability) will be returned
2. Keep pets alive at the minimum cost, that is, feed tea every day: tea only consumes 1 FP, can gain 1 point and increase the death time by 3 days.
3. Spin the dial every day
4 (Optional). Press "Bonk" every 15 minutes to attack other players in the "ranking list" and try to win 0.5% of their points. Please choose a player whose points are 50% higher than yours to maximize the points return. When dying, feed tea in time to extend your life.
Krypton gold player
1. Turn the dial every day
2. Purchase props in the store to decorate/protect your pets and your points
3. Feed your pet beer to get 1000 points and increase the death time by 6 hours. Beer costs 50 FP.
4. Be the victim rather than the active attacker, because being the victim gives you a 60% chance of winning.
FP Token Economics
The team has not reserved any FP tokens. 90% of the $FP used in the game is burned and 10% is allocated to new players. That is to say, as long as a new person enters the game and consumes through your invitation code, the invitation People can get 10% reward.
Every time someone buys or sells $FP tokens on BaseSwap, a 5% tax is paid. Once the tax exceeds 1000 $FP , the contract will automatically convert to ETH and then make the following distribution:
2% as a reward to game players (the more points, the more ETH rewards, the ETH share obtained is player points/total points of all players)
2% goes to Fren Pet developers
1% is added back as liquidity supply to support the FP economy
Since Coinbase Wallet tweeted on the 18th, the price of FP has increased from 0.1 to 1.4, an increase of more than 10 times. According to on-chain data observation, the number of tokens that first added liquidity was 9,956,000 FP/1WETH, and the price of a single currency was approximately US$0.0002, an increase of approximately 7,000 times.
Judging from the current popularity of the game, the gameplay is still iterating. From the recently updated V2 version, it is not difficult to see that the developers of the game have been working hard: more props, online DNA evolution mechanism, etc. As mentioned before, the project team also promised that as long as players are active, they will update some new content every week. Even if it copies the game content of traditional digital pets, Fren Pet still has a journey to go.
For electronic pets on the chain, we are still in the early days. Whether you want to enjoy the game or participate in token transactions, please choose according to your own risk appetite.
