When community members realized that only 15% of the tokens would be distributed through what EigenLayer calls a "stakedrop," their initial enthusiasm waned. Specifically, in the first distribution season, only 5% of the total token supply will be rewarded based on a snapshot of user staking activity as of March 15, 2024. In addition, 90% of the tokens in this distribution will not be available until May 10 and will not be immediately transferable, which has exacerbated the community's frustration.
