Addressing backlash from EigenLayer
The initial Airdrop , announced early last week, drew strong criticism from the EigenLayer community. The backlash has led to calls for a more equitable distribution. Users expressed dissatisfaction with the allocation formula. They found it disproportionately favored investors and early contributors over the Medium user.
The Eigen Foundation, responsible for the EigenLayer ecosystem, has released a detailed plan for distributing additional rewards. The latest plan clarifies timelines and lock-in periods while aiming to increase user engagement across all stages of the project. Users who interact with EigenLayer before April 29 will benefit from this additional Airdrop plan, which will be processed after May 10.
This strategy also extends to participants in EigenLayer's season 1 and season 2 initiatives. All season 1 participants will receive at least 110 EIGEN, including the base amount of 10 EIGEN plus the new addition of 100.
Similarly, season 2 participants who participate in staking activities between March 15 and April 29 are guaranteed a minimum of 100 EIGEN. However, it is important to note that only users who participated before April 29 are eligible to participate in this distribution round.
Furthermore, the platform has provided important details about the trading schedule for the tokens held by investors. They said trading will begin when the token becomes transferable, with an expected unlocking period after September 30. This coincides with the launch of new functions on the EigenLayer Primary Network .
Furthermore, the Eigen Foundation explained that they will update missed allocations to those participating in the testnet. They promised more details to come.
We are aware that certain testnet users have had their claims disqualified. Allocation for missed testnet users will be updated as part of phrase 2 of season 1. We will provide more details in the coming weeks.
