There's no Bitcoin v30.0. What you probably mean is Bitcoin 'Core' v30.0 which is a hostile attempt to change Bitcoin from an Electronic Cash System into a data spam Dropbox with an Ethereum style token on the side. Bitcoiners don't run Core v30.0. Bitcoiners run Knots.

This debate is as old as Bitcoin. Here's Satoshi himself firmly rejecting additional arbitrary data in the Bitcoin blockchain. The blockchain is immutable. This fact comes with serious tradeoffs when it comes to allowing data other than related to native Bitcoin transactions.

Currently 10623 nodes are running Bitcoin Knots v29.2.0 (released October 10, 2025). At the same time, 7563 nodes are running Bitcoin Core v30.0.0 (released October 12, 2025 with release candidates dating back to September 2025).

The fields that Satoshi created for arbitrary data were "33 to 120 bytes". That could be used for, for example, "timestamp hash sized arbitrary data". And for example Lightning Network is keeping its smart contract scripts offchain.

Satoshi made Bitcoin to be an Electronic Cash System, not a data spam Dropbox. He was firmly against additional arbitrary data. It's that simple. Bitcoin is only for native financial transactions.
