The Harry Potter franchise took 10 years to build to this moment between Michael Gambon as Dumbledore and Alan Rickman as Snape. You could feel the energy & emotion in the packed theater throughout the entire last 1/3rd of this film. Why touch it? Why mess with what’s perfect?

The Order, featuring Jude Law & Nicholas Hoult. Those of you who’ve see this film, which released in 2024, know exactly what I’m talking about. Law & Hoult just bring it. This is a throwback crime thriller about real people. Folks, see this film if you haven’t yet. It’s great.

Hamnet had me covered in tears & ugly crying the entire drive home from The Grove. Nominated for 8 Academy Awards, Hamnet felt like real filmmaking that we could’ve experienced in the ‘70s or ‘80s. Nothing felt fake during this film. Including & especially the performances.

Succession. It’s the best show of the decade. It’s also arguably the best thing HBO’s ever done behind The Sopranos. The rewatch value of this show is enormous because the cast, writing, and direction is perfect. Emphasis on “perfect”. It’s is a true once-in-a-lifetime show.

Jeremy Irons is an actor I fully embraced in 2025 - I found myself constantly watching his films. For my money, his performance in Margin Call is the best work of his career. In a film filled with stars, Irons shines the brightest. He is always, always interesting. A true artist.

Today is the 9 year anniversary of Oscar-Winner Kobe Bryant’s final game. The cut-away to a 78-year-old Jack Nicholson hopping up & down with his arms in the air like a kid after Kobe Bryant scores his 54th and 56th points is Cinema. Jack was all of us on this night. I miss Kobe.
