USDC issuer Circle expands support for the Solana blockchain by integrating Web3 functionality with Solana.
According to Cointelegraph on the 12th (local time), Circle will integrate with the Solana blockchain in two steps.
Integration takes place in two stages. The first phase focuses on the introduction of programmable wallets and gas stations. Programmable wallets are characterized by allowing developers to automatically manage assets. Gas stations provide a path to receive sponsorship for transaction fees.
In the second stage, non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are introduced and interaction between programs becomes possible through a smart contract platform. Solana will be able to use Circle's Web3 functionality, which is supported by blockchains such as Ethereum, Polygon, and Avalanche.
In recent months, Solana has seen a surge in activity and has been integrated several times with other protocols. According to Hello Moon, the number of active addresses on the Solana blockchain reached an all-time high of 41.5 million last month.
Circle stated the reason for supporting the Solana blockchain, saying, “We have witnessed the incredible growth of the Solana developer community.”
