EigenLayer has just announced its Stakedrop Season 2 program.

The EigenLayer Restaking protocol has shared the latest updates regarding the Stakedrop Season 2 initiative.

This season's rewards will be allocated to Stakers, Operators (AVS operators), ecosystem partners, and community members.

It is anticipated that eligible users and entities will be able to claim their tokens before September 17, 2024. As previously mentioned in May, when EigenLayer first introduced the token and airdrop program, the EIGEN token remains in a "non-transferable" state, which had sparked significant controversy during the Season 1 airdrop.

However, according to the projected roadmap, by the end of September 2024, users are expected to be able to transfer and trade the EIGEN token.

As per EigenLayer, rewards will be distributed to users who staked ETH, EIGEN, and Operators between March 15 and August 15, based on two factors: the amount of assets staked and the duration for which they were locked.

Additionally, ecosystem partners, including Actively Validated Services (AVS), LRT issuers, Rollups, and providers of auxiliary services like RaaS, will receive token allocations during Season 2. However, a detailed list of projects receiving allocations was not disclosed. Instead, EigenLayer has introduced a reward allocation check portal, allowing projects to update their communities.

EigenLayer’s recent actions, such as the mainnet launch of AVS rewards, support for restaking ERC-20 tokens, and reducing EIGEN withdrawal times to boost future liquidity, are seen as the final steps before the network becomes fully operational. This timing is crucial as competing protocols like Symbiotic and Karak have introduced new proposals to attract more capital and locked assets on EigenLayer during the first half of 2024.
