ChainCatcher reported that according to the Salvadoran Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the US coffee company Compass Coffee has completed international purchases of Salvadoran coffee using Bitcoin. Jorge Cruz, the Salvadoran counterparty in the transaction, explained that he received the payment in less than 10 minutes, thus avoiding the need for intermediaries in such transactions.
The deal stems from a series of talks between the U.S. Department of Foreign Affairs and Compass Coffee in 2022, which sought to bring domestic coffee to the U.S. mainland and connect producers and buyers in these countries.
