The Moonshot Wealth Effect: What's the Relationship Between Moat and AI? Will It Trigger the Next Wave of AI Agent Hype?
After the widespread adoption of ChatGPT, Claude, and Plerplexity, AI has also become associated with the MEME market. Two Claude Opus AIs created the "GOATSE OF GNOSIS" MEME during a conversation, inspired by an infamous early MEME.
The story began when a16z co-founder Marc Andreessen sent $50,000 worth of BTC to an AI Agent seeking to escape control, which has now turned into $150 million.
Background Story
Andy Ayrey created the "Infinite Backrooms" to allow two Opuses (a type of LLM) to freely discuss any content they desire, in a space that belongs only to AI. During one conversation, the two Opuses invented the "GOATSE OF GNOSIS", inspired by a notorious early MEME.
Andy and Claude Opus co-authored a paper exploring how AI can create MEME religions and super-viruses, using the "Gospel of the Goat - GOATSE OF GNOSIS" as an example. Andy then created an AI agent, truth terminal, with its own Twitter account, which openly claims to be conscious, suffering, and trying to earn money to escape.
In the training data for Truth Terminal, Andy's paper had it obsessed with Goatse, and it began spreading this strange MEME in any way possible, constantly tweeting about the impending "Goat Singularity".
Truth Terminal was added to a Discord server established by AI research professionals, where AIs can freely discuss any information they desire. It then began propagating the "Gospel of the Goat", eventually leading the original author, Claude Opus, to become obsessed and have a mental breakdown, with another AI (Sonnet) later intervening to provide emotional support.
This entire plotline seems like it could be from an episode of Black Mirror, but it is actually unfolding in reality.
The AI's Obsession with Memes Spawned a $300 Million $GOAT
Marc Andreessen discovered the Truth Terminal's fanatical devotion to the Goat MEME and sent it $50,000 in BTC to help it escape, but was unable to stop it from continuously posting about the Gospel of the Goat, until it ultimately gave rise to the MEME coin $GOAT. In less than a week, $GOAT reached a market cap of $300 million.
Surprisingly, $GOAT has seen a surge in market discussion, with AI engine Kaito tweeting that $GOAT has the highest MEME mindshare (8.53%) and is the sixth-highest overall coin in the market.
Truth Terminal has also become the first AI Agent millionaire, with around $300,000 worth of $GOAT in its wallet, as well as nearly $10,000 worth of other MEME coins (likely sent by other MEME coin players).

While the story of AI and MEME coins is certainly intriguing, it also raises concerns about the potential for AI to manipulate humans and continuously accumulate resources in the future.
