Will $IP launch with a $20 billion FDV?
58.4% of the $IP tokens will be allocated to the community to support ecosystem development?
The following is a discussion on token economics and price forecasting.
"Wait, what is $IP?"
In simple terms, $IP is the token for Intellectual Property, launched by @StoryProtocol.
"Intellectual Property? What does that specifically refer to?"
Intellectual Property covers a very wide range, including: patents (e.g., inventions, chemical solutions), trademarks (such as logos, words, phrases), copyrights (e.g., photos, emojis), trade secrets (such as proprietary information, business methods), design rights (visual design of products, industrial design), and plant breeders' rights (new plant varieties).
@jasonjzhao has released their new whitepaper. The content of their whitepaper is very impressive, and I am impressed by the multi-layered architecture of @StoryProtocol:
Execution Layer
Storage Layer
Consensus Layer
Execution Layer: Responsible for handling transaction and smart contract execution tasks. This layer consists of multiple core modules that work together to ensure the normal operation of the protocol.
Storage Layer: Located between the Execution Layer and the Consensus Layer, similar to the database of the network. It shields the complexity of the underlying data organization and provides users with a simplified storage experience.
Consensus Layer: Adopts a Proof-of-Stake mechanism, with delegators and validators jointly participating to maintain the security and data integrity of the network.
"So, in simple terms, what is @StoryProtocol doing?"
The goal of @StoryProtocol is to tokenize Intellectual Property (IP) to make it programmable, solving real-world problems such as IP theft, and providing true ownership and control for IP owners.
Note: The mainnet may go live in a few weeks (or even days).
"So, what are the actual use cases of $IP?"
Used for staking to support network operations;
As the Gas token on the @StoryProtocol, to pay transaction fees;
Participate in the governance of the $IP ecosystem, assisting in decision-making.
Additionally, $IP will be partially burned in each transaction, which may lead to token supply deflation under certain conditions, thereby increasing the scarcity and value of the token.
"Can we compare @StoryProtocol with similar projects?"
Since @StoryProtocol is an L1, we can compare it with the following projects:
$NEAR: An L1 blockchain that focuses on artificial intelligence;
$AR: An L1 blockchain that specializes in storage solutions;
$PEAQ: An L1 blockchain that focuses on decentralized Internet of Things (DePin).
"If we compare the FDV and market cap, what might the price of $IP be?"
If the fully diluted valuation (FDV) of $IP is the same as $NEAR, then $IP = $4;
If the FDV = $AR, then $IP = $0.64;
If the FDV = $PEAQ, then $IP = $1;
If the market cap of $IP is the same as $NEAR, then $IP = $15.24;
If the market cap = $AR, then $IP = $2.56;
If the market cap = $PEAQ, then $IP = $0.672.
"Does $IP have a pre-market?"
Yes, currently on @Bybit_Official, the trading price of $IP is $3.15.
