Adams emphasized that cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology can help serve populations underserved by traditional financial services. The city's Chief Technology Officer, Matt Fraser, noted that blockchain technology applications will extend beyond the financial system and could potentially democratize access to critical information such as birth and death records.
