Consensys: A small number of MetaMask users reported abnormally high disk activity and are working on a fix

MetaMask developer ConsenSys confirmed that it will urgently fix the browser extension's abnormal disk writing issue. Multiple users reported that the plugin continuously writes data in the background, reaching up to 5MB per second, causing solid-state drives (SSDs) to write an average of 500GB per day. The problem can be traced back to May 9, with a user named "Quanquan" reporting that an unused MetaMask plugin wrote 100GB of data in a single day. A ConsenSys spokesperson acknowledged the "abnormally high disk activity", primarily affecting users with excessive state data, and promised to fix the issue by reducing write frequency and optimizing data fetching strategies.
