The contradiction in the US politics of the Right is now running its course [I am right leaning myself]. That contradiction consisted in the coalition between the anarcho-capitalists that were amoral and the Christian Right that was moral. The hyper-individuals that took anarcho-capitalism seriously, that made it their worldview, thought that money bought them the privilege of transcending all moral constraints ['societal repression'] and so indulged their basest desires... the idea of absolute freedom led to anarchy [against order]. The religious right went along for it as long as they could until they couldn't, faced with the consequences of a rampant immorality. It's now come to a head. It's not really about the individual versus the collective. It boils down to the bedrock issue of whether you believe in right and wrong, in morality... a very individual affair.
