Has a quantum computer ever successfully run Shor's algorithm?
Is there an example where the specific algorithm that breaks ECDSA, has been successfully run on a lower security obsolete cryptographic scheme?
I've spent the afternoon asking questions and testing assumptions with Gemini.
No matter which way I try, being optimistic as I can, It's giving me middle of next decade as a best case scenario.
It just seems like there is a lot of 'changes to the goalposts', with endless new quantum metrics to benchmark, but no measurable progress.
This isn't about writing useful code.
It's about running the algorithm AT ALL.
if the answer really is 2035 best case (like NIST/NSA/the UK/the EU and many others thing), then we should transition today
every key holder has to make a transaction on chain or lose their funds permanently
how long would you want to give them to do that?

you might think 6 bits is a long way from 256 bits and you'd be right
but do you want to wager bitcoin's future on technology not progressing?
