Monitoring what’s interesting on Base so far, and it seems the most successful AI coins/agents fall into 2 main buckets:
1) Tokenized exposure to companies: A founder or CEO attaches an agent to their project and users perceive value based on founder reputation/human capital. It’s simple to understand and easy to find shilling points around the existing company - it lets people use their imagination on how far that leverage goes.
2) Experienced devs building actual infra: Since you can’t "vibe code" infrastructure (at least not at a high level), this bucket relies on pure skill. These devs usually have the right connections in the Base eco and the right follows. People see the technical moat and the network they have and can actually imagine the scaling and exposure potential.
Building on that, there's another split in how these projects hold up:
1) Pure Attention & Momentum: Zero value at the start, maybe some later but it doesn't matter. As long as the dev is relentless and knows how to manipulate the attention game, it prints. It's 100% a bet on the dev’s ability to stay relevant. Risk here is that something new and shiny comes in with better "credentials" and becomes a vamp.
2) Utility & Value Capture: The token actually tries to mean something. It’s a harder sell that usually requires a "smart money" KOL to translate the tech for the masses. It runs on hype early but eventually needs real fundamentals to survive the rotation. The risk here is that the tech takes too long to ship and the market loses patience, or that usage proves to be a ghost town.
