Magic's Franz Wagner suffered right calf injury, may miss Game 5 vs. Pistons

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Magic forward Franz Wagner suffered a right calf strain during Monday's Game 4 win in their first-round series against the Detroit Pistons, an MRI conducted Tuesday revealed. The Magic will list Wagner as questionable to play in Wednesday's Game 5 in Detroit, with the Magic leading the series 3-1. The team did not otherwise reveal a timetable for Wagner's projected return. If Wagner cannot play, it would he a significant blow to the Magic, who nonetheless held on in Game 4 after Wagner sustained his injury during the third quarter. Orlando won the game 94-88 to put the top-seeded Pistons on the brink of elimination. The 24-year-old Wagner averaged 20.6 points 5.2 rebounds and 3.3 assists while playing in just 34 games this season due to complications from a severe ankle sprain. Last season, Wagner averaged 24.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.7 assists in 60 games. Jamal Cain would receive more playing time in Wagner's absence. The 27-year-old Cain scored 8 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in Game 4 while supplying the highlight of the game with his dunk over Detroit big man Jalen Duren. Wagner and Cain have served as primary defenders on Pistons star Cade Cunningham, who has committed 27 turnovers in four games in this series.
