Both of Trump's hands appeared to be covered in makeup in photos with Charles III, whose own hands appeared red and swollen during the meeting. Trump has typically just had bruising on his right hand, which he and the White House have attributed to frequent handshakes and daily aspirin use. Trump and his administration have compared the president to high-profile figures throughout his second term. Last year, the White House account on X posted what appeared to be an AI image of Trump wearing a crown on a spoof Time Magazine cover captioned, "LONG LIVE THE KING." The president also said "LONG LIVE THE KING" in a post last year boasting about his efforts to block New York City's congestion pricing program.
