Tourists traveling to China can now pre-load digital yuan into their wallets using Visa and Mastercard.
China added Visa and Mastercard transaction functions to Digital Yuan's mobile application e-CNY in time for the Hangzhou Asian Games. As a result, foreign tourists can use the global card service to recharge their wallets with digital yuan and then use various services such as hotel reservations, hospital treatment, and shopping.
The People's Bank of China (PBoC), China's central bank, first introduced e-CNY ahead of the Beijing Winter Olympics in January last year. e-CNY is available on the Apple App Store and China-based Google Play.

China expands digital yuan payment scope
According to Chinese business media Yicai, China encouraged tourists to use e-CNY to transact with local businesses during last year's Beijing Winter Olympics.
Overseas tourists can open an e-CNY wallet using an overseas mobile phone number and must top it up with at least 100 yuan (about $14). When leaving the country, you can transfer the remaining amount in your wallet to your bank account. Additionally, users can cancel their wallet at any time.
People's Bank of China strengthens digital yuan services
The People's Bank of China's Zhejiang Province branch opened a consumer consultation service and in-app chat-based help service for English-speaking users. In addition, digital yuan can be used at 121 Asian Games-designated hotels and 55 medical institutions.
You can also pay with digital yuan at about 30 shopping centers and 80 tourist attractions near the stadium. Additionally, you can purchase ride-sharing apps, public transportation, food, and other products.
