Sky proposes to vote to remove wBTC from the ecosystem On September 13th, Sky, the lending platform previously known as MakerDAO, announced a plan to vote to completely remove Wrapped Bitcoin (wBTC) from the ecosystem. BA Labs, a Sky DAO organization, has proposed to gradually remove all wBTC from the Sky project in 5 stages, starting from September 26th, with each stage being put up for a vote. The main reason for BA Labs' proposal to remove and reduce dependence on wBTC is due to concerns about the BiTGlobal joint venture established based on the collaboration between BitGo and Justin Sun. Competitors of wBTC are also taking advantage of this tense situation to introduce alternative versions of wBTC such as dlcBTC, tBTC from Threshold, FBTC supported by the Mantle Network, and the latest cbBTC from Coinbase.
