The Financial Supervisory Service announced on the 25th that it will designate the week until the 29th as 'World Investor Week' in Korea and hold online and offline events related to 'prevention of financial fraud such as investment fraud linked to virtual assets.'
World Investor Week, which has been held since 2017, is a global campaign hosted by the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO). Currently, 118 member countries hold events related to investor protection for one week each year. Korea has been participating since 2020.
Among the seven programs, the video on preventing damage from virtual asset-related investment fraud will feature staff from the Financial Supervisory Service's Livelihood Infringement Response Bureau and the Virtual Asset Investigation Bureau, as well as experts from academia, who will explain cases of damage from virtual asset-related investment fraud and things for consumers to be aware of.
The World Investor Week website also provides online learning content for elementary, middle, and high school students, such as ‘Savings and Investment’ and ‘Preparing for Risks Without Gaps’, by linking to the Financial Supervisory Service’s e-Financial Education Center page.
A Financial Supervisory Service official said, “In order to increase interest in preventing financial fraud, we have prepared customized content with related organizations such as the Digital Asset Exchange Association (DAXA), the Korea Financial Consumer Protection Foundation, and the National Investor Education Council.”
