On April 2, Hut 8 and the Trump family-led data infrastructure company American Data Centers jointly created the Bitcoin mining enterprise American Bitcoin, which plans to go public and may introduce private investment beforehand. Hut 8 CEO Asher Genoot stated in a Bloomberg TV interview that the future goal is to build a vertically integrated enterprise structure consisting of "two sister listed companies", with one part responsible for energy, data centers, and infrastructure, and the other focusing on crypto business and Bitcoin mining.
Previously, Hut 8 announced on March 31 the acquisition of 80% of American Data Centers' shares, which was subsequently renamed American Bitcoin and will operate independently, focusing on Bitcoin mining and strategic reserve construction. American Bitcoin is led by Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, sons of the former president.
