Trump stated that he was interviewing "three or four" candidates for the Fed Chair position and expected to decide who to nominate to succeed Powell "soon." "I think each of them would be a good choice. But I'm not sure if I'll announce a candidate before the end of the year, but the decision will be made in the coming weeks."
In an interview last week, Trump suggested that National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett and former Federal Reserve Governor Kevin Warsh were the main contenders. He stated at the time, "I think both Kevins are great, and there are a few other great guys too."
