one of the big worries a couple of decades ago which was most conspicuous during the Y2K transition was how much critical infrastructure was still running on FORTRAN code, and how few programmers there were who still knew FORTRAN. a lot of people considered it a looming crisis now the machines can program themselves (yes, with limitations…for now) and i doubt many people being born today or even graduating today will learn to code in the same way ever again
