Mars Finance News: The Google Threat Intelligence Group (GTIG) reported that North Korean hackers are impersonating remote technical personnel and expanding their infiltration operations to blockchain projects in non-US regions, including the United Kingdom. Due to tightened US regulations, they have established a global network of false identities to continue obtaining funds and expanding their operational influence. These impersonators have been involved in multiple Web3 projects, including Solana, Anchor smart contract development, and engineering efforts such as building blockchain talent markets and AI blockchain applications. Collier noted that these individuals impersonate legitimate employees to obtain salaries and engage in extortion by threatening to leak source code after being dismissed. Previously, the US Department of Justice had prosecuted two North Korean individuals for a remote work fraud scheme affecting at least 64 US companies between 2018 and 2024. (Cointelegraph)
